Joanna Elliott currently lives with her husband Daniel in Burlington, VT, where she teaches art classes at Shelburne Art Center, Burlington City Arts, and in area public schools. Prior to moving to Vermont, Joanna taught art in public and private schools, art centers, and in private lessons in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Joanna is a graduate of Tyler School of Art, M.Ed, with a major in Art education, 2005, where she was honored to be the recipient of the Ann and Jack Moskovitz Art Education Award. She graduated Cum Laude and with departmental honors from Skidmore College in May of 2003 with a B.S. in Studio Arts. She was inducted into the Periclean Society of Skidmore College, an academic honors society, in May 2003. In 2001, she was awarded a Student Opportunity Funds grant for a sculpture project. In 2000, before entering Skidmore College, she studied painting and drawing in Aureille, France, at Les Ateliers Fourwinds. She graduated from The Hotchkiss School in June 1999, where she received a Senior Art Prize.
